Some minimization theorems and their applications to partial differential equations

Abstract

"This thesis aims to explore some minimization theorems and their applications to partial differential equations. We examine three main variational approaches which are the direct method in the calculus of variations, Ekeland's variational principle, and the Mountain Pass Theorem. We then apply these tools to study the existence of solutions for several nonlinear boundary value problems, including a subcritical semilinear elliptic equation, a constrained minimization problem, and a nonlinear cigenvalue problem.
