| dc.description.abstract | This ecological study focuses on the inventory and assessment of the biodiversity of aquatic macroinvertebrates in the Oued Souf region (Southeastern Algerian Sahara). The research involved field and laboratory investigations at "Chott Dhiba," a natural depression transformed into an artificial ecosystem due to the reception of treated wastewater. Four sampling stations were monitored over an eight-month period (from October 2025 to May 2026) to track spatial and temporal variations across three seasons: Autumn, Winter, and Spring. The sampling efforts yielded a total of 13,240 individuals belonging to 30 species, distributed across 2 phyla, 5 classes, 10 orders, and 24 families. Ecological indices (such as the Shannon-Weaver index and Equitability) indicated that Station 3 achieved the highest biodiversity and biological stability, while Station 4 recorded the lowest species richness due to environmental stress. | |
