دراسة تحليلية لواقع ادارة وفرز النفايات المنزلية في مدينة الوادي

Abstract

This study aimed to diagnose the current state of household waste management in the municipality of El Oued, identify residents’ behaviors related to waste collection, sorting, and disposal, assess their level of environmental awareness, and explore the possibility of valorizing household waste and benefiting from it economically. The study adopted the descriptive analytical method, as it is the most appropriate for studying and analyzing environmental and social phenomena in the field. Data were collected through a questionnaire distributed to a sample of residents from several neighborhoods in the municipality of El Oued, including El Rimal, Tiksebt, 17 October, 19 March, El Nezla, and 8 May. Statistical methods were also used to analyze the data, extract the results, and interpret them. The results revealed a relative awareness among residents of the importance of organized household waste collection, along with a strong willingness to participate in selective sorting if the necessary means are provided. The findings also showed a clear shortage of waste containers, irregular waste collection in some neighborhoods, and the spread of black spots caused by waste accumulation. The study further confirmed citizens’ limited knowledge of source-sorting programs and digital platforms for reporting waste-related problems.
