The research gap addressed in this study is the limited site-specific CFD assessment of parabolic trough collectors under the harsh arid conditions of El Oued, where high DNI, wind, temperature, and geometric constraints jointly affect thermal performance. This work aims to evaluate the thermal and hydraulic behavior of a parabolic trough receiver and identify the most influential operating and design parameters. A steady two-dimensional axisymmetric CFD-based numerical model was developed in MATLAB using finite-volume/finite-difference discretization, axial marching, nonlinear heat-loss boundary conditions, and validation through pressure-drop and Nusselt-number comparisons. Under baseline conditions of DNI = 900 W/m², ambient temperature = 42 °C, wind speed = 2 m/s, mass flow rate = 0.04 kg/s, aperture width = 1.5 m, receiver length = 2 m, and inner diameter = 0.025 m, the model predicted about 61.9% thermal efficiency, 1671.73 W useful heat gain, and 45 °C outlet temperature. Increasing aperture width from 1 to 3 m raised useful heat from 1121 to 3312 W, while increasing DNI from 500 to 1100 W/m² increased it from 937.38 to 2037.71 W. Wind speed from 0.5 to 6 m/s increased heat losses from 89.67 to 189.22 W, and increasing mass flow rate from 0.01 to 0.10 kg/s reduced outlet temperature from 69.99 to 39.21 °C but increased pressure drop from 1.47 to 57.16 Pa
