This dissertation presents a comprehensive review and comparative analysis of Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) control strategies for photovoltaic (PV) systems operating under both constant and variable solar irradiance conditions. The study investigates four prominent algorithms: Perturb and Observe (P&O), Incremental Conductance (INC), Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), and Fuzzy Logic Control (FLC). The operational principles, advantages, and limitations of each technique are thoroughly examined. Using MATLAB-Simulink as a simulation platform, a quantitative performance evaluation is conducted. The results demonstrate that the ANN-based MPPT controller achieves the highest conversion efficiency, recording 96.63% under constant irradiance, while the FLC algorithm exhibits superior dynamic response characterized by minimal steady-state oscillations and rapid adaptability to fluctuating atmospheric conditions. The findings underscore the critical role of appropriate MPPT selection tailored to specific system requirements and environmental dynamics. Future research directions are proposed, focusing on experimental validation of the simulated results and the development of hybrid algorithms combining the strengths of multiple techniques to further optimize PV system performance under real-world operating conditions.
