This work presents the modeling, simulation, and real-time implementation of a photovoltaic (PV) energy conversion system incorporating a Boost DC-DC converter and advanced Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) techniques. The main objective is to maximize the energy extracted from the photovoltaic generator while ensuring stable operation under varying environmental conditions, particularly fluctuations in solar irradiance and temperature. A comprehensive mathematical model of the PV module and the Boost converter was developed using the MATLAB/Simulink environment. Three MPPT algorithms were implemented and evaluated: the conventional Perturb and Observe (P&O) method, the Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC), and the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm. To validate the simulation results, the developed control strategies were deployed in real time on a Texas Instruments TMS320F28379D (C2000) digital signal controller, which generated the pulse-width modulation (PWM) signals required for converter control. Simulation and experimental results demonstrated the effectiveness of all investigated MPPT techniques in tracking the maximum power point and improving the overall efficiency of the photovoltaic system. However, the intelligent approaches, particularly the PSO algorithm, exhibited superior performance in terms of tracking accuracy, response speed, stability, and oscillation reduction around the operating point. The FLC method also provided enhanced performance compared with the conventional P&O technique, especially under rapidly changing weather conditions.
