| dc.description.abstract | This thesis tackles the issue of high-speed digitalization in the desert environment specially in our country. The key argument is that Free-Space Optical (FSO) communication may offer significant capacity (112 Gbps) and be cheaper than fiber in theory, but reliability failure in desert region is a serious concern because of its warm climate. The main constraining factor is not the technology as such, but the environment: severe thermal scintillation, damaging sandstorms driven by Sirocco, and complex aerosol behaviour owing to the combination of airborne dust and agricultural humidity. The study tackles this issue in two sequenced phases. The first stage is diagnostic: performance analysis of a single input single output system under diverse atmospheric scenarios to benchmark channel degradation against an established baseline. The second stage is solution-oriented represented by the proposal and performance evaluation of a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) architecture under specific atmospheric scenarios and a rigorous comparison to the single link to arrive at clear conclusions. With respect to Bit Error Rate (BER) and Q-Factor limits relative to Forward Error Correction (FEC), the performance of proposed MIMO-FSO system remains well above the SISO link performance. Essentially, the MIMO configuration allows for a sufficient link margin during extreme dust-storm conditions, which bridges the connectivity gap. The MIMO-FSO configuration is confirmed to the powerful engineering solution for high-speed.
