The 5th generation wireless system is a quantum leap in the evolution of telecommunication systems, due to its very high data rate, extremely low latency and massive connection to fit the next generation startup applications (6G and more). However, the introduction of 5G systems brings with it a number of challenges to conquer such as signal propagation, interference, multipath, fading and resource management issues (power for example) for a dynamic environment, particularly in high dense city areas. Machine learning (ML) techniques can be employed at the edge of wireless networks to enhance the accuracy of performance prediction and the level of network intelligence to target these concerns. In this thesis, we investigate the performance of 5G wireless system based on massive MIMO and beamforming at 3.5 GHz (n78) for downlink band under realistic propagation conditions. The proposed model includes both LOS and NLOS, path loss, inter-cell interference and Rayleigh fading. A simulation environment was implemented in the form of python codes in Google CoLab in order to produce the dataset and analyze the Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) such as SINR, throughput and latency. In addition, a machine learning (ML) based predictive framework has been added in the form of Random forest Regressor algorithm to predict performance metrics at the physical-layer. The result shows the good accuracy and prove the validity and the high value of ML methods for modeling the non-linear characteristics of 5G wireless environments. The analysis indicates that Machine learning and 5G systems integration can offer a solid and promising solutions to intelligent network management and future self-organizing wireless networks.
