By creating a sophisticated data-driven statistical monitoring and diagnostic framework, this project seeks to improve the effectiveness and dependability of photovoltaic (PV) systems operating in desert conditions. The main goal of the study is to perform a thorough quantitative and qualitative comparison between the traditional static Principal Component Analysis (PCA) method and its dynamic extension, Dynamic Principal Component Analysis (DPCA), which is implemented in the MATLAB environment for early fault detection and isolation. The suggested methodology was assessed using actual operational and meteorological data gathered from the Oued El Kebrit solar power plant in Souk Ahras Province, Algeria, in order to give practical applicability. The simulation results showed that the DPCA approach is clearly more technically advanced than the traditional static PCA method. By using statistical control limits based on Hotelling's 𝑇2 and Squared Prediction Error (SPE) indices, DPCA considerably decreased the False Alarm Rate (FAR) while increasing the Fault Detection Rate (FDR) by integrating temporal dynamics into the monitoring framework. Additionally, Reconstruction-Based Contribution (RBC) charts demonstrated a high degree of efficacy in precisely pinpointing the factors causing aberrant system behaviour, facilitating proactive maintenance plans and reducing energy losses. The results validate the potential of dynamic multivariate statistical monitoring approaches as dependable instruments for enhancing the fault management and operational performance of solar systems operating in harsh desert environments.
