Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of barley (Hordeum vulgare) seed infusion on the germination characteristics of two species from the Apiaceae family (Coriander Coriandrum sativum and Parsley Petroselinum crispum), treated with two concentrations (50%, and 100%), over 14 days of sowing. Germination characteristics were studied and various morphophysiological parameters, such as radicle and hypocotyl length, germination kinetics, and germination coefficient, were recorded. The results showed that the effect varied depending on the infusion concentration and the seed species. The infusion was observed to increase germination kinetics, radicle length, and hypocotyl length in Parsley seeds, while the effect on Coriandrum seeds was relatively minor.
