The genus Eucalyptus occupies an important place within the Myrtaceae family, it was named and described by the French botanist Charles Louis L'Héritier de Brutelle in 1788, it includes about 800 species, most ofthe species of e are native to Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand, its leaves contain oils rich in Eucalyptol, which is responsible for most of the plant's properties The genus Eucalyptus is described botanically, then classified and reviewed its main uses and biological activity in several areas. Through this study, we conclude that the genus eucalyptus is of great importance in several areas, including medicinal, such as lowering blood sugar, anti-inflammatory, environmental such as biodrainage and reducing salinity, and industrial production such as wood production and perfumes. We hope to direct scientific research towards in-depth and complementary studies so that the great potential of this genus of plants is fully exploited, because there are societies that have not been able to take full advantage of its benefits.
