Design and Development of an Integrated Smart System for Detecting and Fighting Forest Fires

Abstract

Annually, forest fires cause huge environmental, economic and social losses all over the world, especially in areas with large forest areas, where early detection and rapid response are essential to limit the spread of fires and reduce their impact. Traditional fire detection systems often suffer from limitations such as delayed response, limited coverage, and false alarms. In this note, we propose an intelligent fire detection and extinguishing system based on the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. The system collects environmental data through distributed sensors and a camera suspended in towers over the forests. This information is then sent to the processing platform for analysis and detection of potential fire events with higher accu- racy. Then the automatic fire extinguishing process takes place. This proposal aims to enhance forest fire monitoring and reduce potential damage caused by forest fires.تتسبب حرائق الغابات سنويًا في خسائر بيئية واقتصادية واجتماعية فادحة في جميع أنحاء العالم، خاصة في المناطق ذات المساحات الحرجية الكبيرة، حيث يعد الاكتشاف المبكر والاستجابة السريعة أمرًا ضروريًا للحد من انتشار الحرائق وتقليل تأثيرها. ومع ذلك غالبًا ما تعاني أنظمة الكشف عن الحرائق التقليدية من قيود مثل الاستجابة المتأخرة والتغطية المحدودة والإنذارات الكاذبة. حيث نقترح في هذه المذكرة نظامًا ذكيًا للكشف عن الحرائق وإطفاءها يعتمد على دمج تقنيات إنترنت الأشياء (IoT) والذكاء الاصطناعي (AI). يقوم النظام بجمع البيانات البيئية من خلال أجهزة الاستشعار الموزعة والكاميرا المعلقة على الأبراج في الغابات ثم يتم إرسال هذه المعلومات إلى منصة المعالجة لتحليلها وإكتشاف أحداث الحرائق المحتملة بدقة أعلى ثم يتم عملية الإطفاء التلقائية للحريق، حيث يهدف هذا المقترح إلى تعزيز مراقبة حرائق الغابات وتقليل الأضرار المحتملة الناجمة عن حرائق الغابات.
