Remuneration System And Effort Convention In Public Hospitals In Algeria

Abstract

Based on the theory of conventions, our article proposes to analyse the discrepancy between formal remuneration systems marked by statutory rigidity and uncertainty about bonuses and the efforts actually made by health professionals. Our approach uses the concepts of qualification convention and effort convention. In order to achieve our objectives, we based our research work on an interpretativist epistemological paradigm, using a qualitative study conducted at the Tizi-Ouzou University Hospital. It highlights the tensions and compromises that structure the regulation of hospital work. The results show that the management of human resources is largely based on informal coordination mechanisms, inviting us to rethink remuneration policies beyond their strictly statutory dimension.
