Abstract

This study aimed to assess the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) implemented at the Maintenance and Distribution Unit (UMDAS) in light of the requirements of the international standard ISO 45001:2018. To achieve this objective, the researchers adopted a case study approach, employing a semi-structured interview tool, the questions of which were adapted in alignment with a checklist based on ISO 45001:2018 requirements. The findings revealed the presence of varying degrees of gaps between the actual practices within UMDAS and the standard’s requirements, indicating that the existing OHSMS does not fully conform to ISO 45001:2018. The study concludes by emphasizing the need for stronger commitment from top management, particularly in allocating adequate human and material resources, and recommends integrating ISO 45001:2018 certification as a strategic goal within the organization’s overall management priorities.
