Abstract

the economic and legal transformations experienced by the sector before and after the Order No 95-07 of 25th January 1995 concerning insurance. The study also seeks to examine the market structure in terms of the distribution of premiums by lines of business, particularly non-life insurance and personal (life) insurance, as well as the role of the State in regulating the market and promoting competition and transparency The findings indicate that the Algerian insurance market continues to suffer from limited diversification of insurance products and the predominance of compulsory insurance at the expense of voluntary insurance. The results further show that legal reforms have contributed to improving the market framework; however, they have not been sufficiently reflected in the expansion of the insured base.
