Assessing Governance In Algeria

Abstract

Assessing the quality of governance in Algeria between 2012 and 2023 is crucial to understanding the country's political, economic and social challenges. A composite approach is needed to address the complexity of governance, which includes such dimensions as transparency, accountability and institutional effectiveness. Despite efforts to improve these indicators, results remain mixed. The central issue is effectively assessing governance by considering the interrelationships between these different aspects. The main assumption of this study is that an integrated approach will help identify areas for reform more clearly while strengthening citizens' confidence in the institutionsUsing global governance indicators and Analysis of key components, this study builds a composite governance index for Algeria, providing relevant signals on economic and political imbalances, and suggesting that the index could serve as an effective policy tool.
