The Role Of The Circular Economy In Achieving Sustainable Development Of Natural Resources

Abstract

If there is a need to search for an alternative model to the linear economy one that preserves the health of humans and living organisms, enables the sustainability of life and resources, and works to reduce and safely dispose of waste in landfills-then the circular economy model offers that solution. This model, characterized by its international scope, encompasses the global production system, which has led the United Nations to adopt it in setting the Sustainable Development Goals. Under this model, all "waste" becomes "food" for other processes: either as a byproduct, a recovered resource for another industrial process, or as renewable resources for nature for example, organic fertilizer. In this research, we aim to establish the interrelationships to realize the dream of sustainable development by utilizing the simplest loop in the circular economy: the recycling of waste and residues to create competitively valuable outcomes for Algeria’s economy.
