Abstract

The study aims to highlight the importance of information and communication technology(ICT) as one of the main drivers of economic growth, and this means that if countries seek to enhance their economic growth, they need to implement specific policies that facilitate investment in(ICT) infrastructure to build the information society, including the digital economy. On this basis, we analyzed the indicators of Algeria's performance of information and communication technology infrastructure during the period 2007-2017, which are data issued by the ITU, and this is to assess its efforts to digital transformation and then make comparisons between it and some developed and developing countries, and then analyze the trends of the digital divide. The study found themost important challenges and requirements for the development (ICT) infrastructure to reach the digital economy.
